There are many blank serial number lines that we know guns were made, but not recorded. Starting in 1937, this model was listed in Marlin's Catalogs as the Model 36 and was only there referred to as the 36.― I'm not sure if there is a pattern to the Remington serial numbers, other than maybe a range of sequential numbers in a year. The whole sequence may show what number in the lot mine was built.
